The UIL boys basketball season begins Monday and area fans can watch some of the city’s best players and best teams all under the same building.

On Monday, the seventh RCS Sports “Season Opener” will take place at the Campbell Center. The lineup features De’Aaron Fox, the city’s top senior who just committed to Kentucky on Thursday, and Jared Vanderbilt, the city’s top junior.

In addition, Atascocita will be one of the feature games. The Eagles start the season No. 1 in the state in Class 6A and 15th in the nation. They’ll face Sam Houston, a region tournament participant a year ago.

Tickets ($5) can be purchased in advance at each of the participating schools. One ticket gives patrons access to the entire event. At the door, tickets are $10.

Here is a quick breakdown of the five games:

Aldine Davis vs. St. Pius X (2:30 p.m.)
Despite being a new school, Aldine Davis has quickly become a force in 6A. The Falcons reached the third round of the playoffs last season and return virtually with their entire team. That includes area’s second-ranked junior Royce Hamm (6-7). St Pius X is one of the area’s top private schools, featuring a talented young trio in juniors Cody Graham (5-10) and Matt Strange (5-10), sophomore DeMerrill Levy (6-0).

Victory Prep vs. SATCH (4 p.m.)
SATCH is the defending state’s top home-schooled champion and feature a talented roster that includes the city’s second-ranked senior J.J. Caldwell (Texas A&M signee), DeAndre Williams (a 6-8 transfer from Klein Forest) and Antione Davis (son of TSU coach Mike Davis). Victory Prep is led by Jarred Vanderbilt (a 6-8 junior ranked seventh nationally by ESPN) and senior point guard LaJuan Hardy.

C.E. King vs. Klein Forest (5:30 p.m.)
C.E. King has one of the area’s most athletic seniors in the 6-7 Gilbert Thomas (Murray State signee). Klein Forest returns three starters, led by senior Rashon Thomas (6-0) and junior Cedric Alley (6-6).

Atascocita vs. Sam Houston (7 p.m.)
There will be speed on top of speed when these two 6A powers collide. Both advanced to their regional tournaments in 2015 and return the bulk of their rosters, including four starters each (4 starters apiece). Sam Houston is led by sophomore point guard Kendric and senior twins Kennard and Lennard Robinson. Atascocita counters with one of the state’s top backcourts in seniors Carsen Edwards (Purdue signee) and Greg Shead (verbally committed to Florida International). The Eagles will also have the 6-6 Fabian White, who transferred from Kingwood.

Yates vs. Cypress Lakes (8:30 p.m.)
Cy Lakes senior De’Aaron Fox is the state’s top player and the nation’s top point guard. He recently verbally committed to Kentucky and has produced a number of memorable performances at the Campbell Center, starting with a 52-point showing as a freshman against Nimitz. He should go down as one of the most talented guards Houston has ever produced. But Yates isn’t one of the state’s top powerhouses for nothing. The Lions return most of their roster from a year ago, and feature a talented backcourt led by senior point guard Jacob Young (Texas signee). Young is a sharpshooter with a chance to lead the area – and state – in scoring. Next to him is Lorenzo Phillips.
